STOP: 0x0000008E and win32k.sys PLEASE HELP

i have searched everywhere, and still cannot find a solution to my problem. I ONLY get this error when i open the program REVIT (architectural design). It actually worked after I first installed it, but next time i opened it, i got the error again and it restarted my computer and has been doing it ever since. I run many other programs of this size with no problems (autocad, archicad, rhino, etc). I am 99.9% positive that nothing is wrong with the program, its just something on my computer that is causing this error. It's a fairly new computer and i have enough RAM to run the program, so i don't know what to do. Everything else on my computer, including all my other programs, run fine. I have googled all i can on this issue. does anyone have any ideas?

I'd start with MemTest. There's a chance this is hitting a little-used bad sector of RAM.

Someone useful will post helpful links to memtest.

After that, start looking for things like if you need to run the program in compatability mode, or if it or Windows are not fully patched.

well...i ran memtest86+ overnight and it showed no errors. so i assume its not a faulty RAM problem. I keep reading about updating drivers, but i don't know which ones to update, and because my computer is fairly new, the HP website says there aren't any driver updates available for my computer from their website. how do i know what drivers i need?

I have this same problem. I used it before restart, it worked ok. After a restart, it goes directly to a win32k.sys stop error.

I have seen two fixes for this.

One is to go into your bios and set your ram speed to slower than usual (like 100Hz) and/or set your ram timing to sync.

Also, you'll need to find out what video cards are stable to run with Revit.

Autocad really doesn't like the use of gaming cards, hence the limited actual use you can get out of them, despite their fantastic architecture.

At work, we are using video drivers that are three years old to run revit on two month old machines, all with Autocad approved hardware.

Hope this helps.
