Adobe pares Mac support

News.com: Adobe pares Mac support
"Adobe, a specialist in publishing and imaging applications, will announce a new version of Premiere, its main application for editing digital video. The new Premiere Pro will work only on PCs running Microsoft's Windows XP operating system, ending years of support for the Mac OS.

David Trescot, senior director of Adobe's digital video products group, said the new edition of Premiere is a complete rewrite of the application and it didn't make financial sense to support the Mac anymore.

"We were rewriting Premiere from scratch, and it would have taken a lot of work to have cross-platform support," Trescot said

Wow.. That's a significantly symbolic move on Adobe's part. There are many who say that Adobe wouldn't be where they were without Apple, and vice versa.

The MAC OS has it's place. But it's hardware days are numbered.

I think the best thing Apple could do would be to produce a OSX x86 version.

The writing is indeed on the wall.

The old-guard Apple users will no longer be able to point at Adobe any more either.

x86 is required for mac to return, it's that simple.
