Whats the hot burner nowadays?

Who makes a good n' fast cd burner these days? I've heard good things about the plextors, how about mobo brands, asus and the like?

Gettin ready to upgrade thought I'd see who the top choice is nowadays...

Plextor is excellent, but expensive. MSI, ASUS are both very good. LiteOn is both cheap and excellent. Basically just stick to a well-known mfr and you'll be fine.

SAMSUNG! Affordable, and available with 8mb cache. I haven't made a single coaster. And it's got a unique bezel that I rather like

I have the 40x12x40x version with 8mb cache, and they're available in the 50x range now.

1 vote for Lite-on here. I have built about 15 systems with them in, not had one fail on me yet.

Liteon rocks, LG rocks. Also, the new Plexwriter premium may be worth a look. It comes with software called gigarec that lets you increase the burnable capacity of a cdr by 20% or 40%, allowing you to burn upto 1GB on a 700mb cdr. The only drawback on that is the discs aren't readable in all players, but most read the ones burned @ 120%.
