Good HS & Fan?

I'm looking for a good HS & Fan thats quiet and can keep a CPU cool. I won't be doing any OC so thats not a worry. What do you all think would be a good choice?

Park_7677 suggested this one...

He seems to be very pleased with it.

Do you all have any other suggestions?

Well since your not going to be doing any overclocking you probably want need one of the SLK800's or anything major like that. The one you listed should be fine, might not be the best thing, but you don't need to spend too much money on a h/s if your not going to be overclocking any. Or heck, if you can take the noise, the retail hs/f might do you off a XP.

If i still had the retail HS/F i'd be using it, but my cousin stole it from me lol. The only think i'm really worried about is noise, needs to be quiet...

I'd go for a Thermalright AX7 with a 35CFM Sunon on it. Keeps my XP1700+ in my secondary rig at 42C full load (28C ambient), probably less after the AS3 sets.

AX7:

Or this fan if you want to stick with svc for both pieces:

I like my SLK700 with TMD Fan. VERY quiet. Very effective.

Only 27 + S/H at hardorecooling.com

I'll second the AX-7 suggestion. Nice quiet cooling at a very affordable price. I'd suggest a manual adjustable fan...you can crank it as low as your temps will allow.

Any heatsink by Thermalright. If using a 60mm heatsink/fan get a 30cfm fan, if using a 80mm get a 40-55cfm fan

indeed. Seeing a 15C drop from a Volcano9 made it WELL worth the $

I also use the Vantec Areoflow (also recommended to me by Park) and am happy with it. It's silent compared to the rest of my system, and it holds a mild overclock very well.

For those overclocking though, I would recommend the SLK-700 paired with a TMD fan, which ends up costing just as much as the Areoflow. This winter (if I decide not to watercool) I may switch to this HSF combo.

BTW, in case your wondering, the AreoFlow holds my 1700+ at ~45C stock (under load). At 2Ghz (10x200 w/ 1.525 Vcore) it's at 56C under load. I'm sure I could crank the OC up more, but once the VCore gets anywhere above 1.525, things get mighty toasty pretty quickly. This may change once I get the cooling duct up and running.

My only issue with watercooling is portability (it would hinder the systems availability for LAN parties) But that’s something I wont think about for another 6 months at least.
