sli psu

Hey guys, im buiulding a new rig finally.
Is a OCZ 520W ModStream Power capable of powering a dual 7800gt system?
Ill need an adapter for the second vid card, correct?

Rest of system is nothing crazy
amd 4000+
2gb ram
2 hd's
1 optical drive
3, maybe 4 fans and 2 cold cathode lights

suggestions?

I would suggest the Powerstream SLI for your rig as the 12V line would be on the limit.
Each 7800GT draws around 16 amps which is about 190 watt each. Then comes the cpu at 100 w or so. + the fans and cathodes. That's 500 w on the 12V alone which is well above the 12V specifications.

Mack, thanks so much for correcting me. I am just really behind the times when it comes to video cards. I had no idea they draw that much power.

I didn't actually correct you sir. You are right as it is probably enough with the Modstream, but i wouldn't use that with full load all the time with those cards.
However, with one card, it's an excellent choice.

Mack, did you know that CompUSA is now stocking OCZ PSU's? That's a huge advance for OCZ, getting their products in the door at CompUSA.

I actually heard that. Must be a huge deal they have made. Newegg carry us as well as Fry's.

Nope im back in the land of maple suger and real bacon.
Been home for a year and a half now. Got married, traveled across canada.
Currently in cold lake Ab working as a pipefitter.
