Nvidia’s NV40 unchallenged in the power race

Wow.. while NV40 may (potentially/allegedly) push the envelope for graphics card technology, it most certainly seems that it will come at a price...
"I am sure you have seen the pictures of the NV40 boards floating around here and there, and saw the two molex connectors sticking off the back. If this didn’t clue you in, let me tell you right out, Nvidia will be unchallenged in the power race"
Add comment

Is spim worse than spam?

Spim - Instant Message spam - is more than just a nuisance: It's a security risk. The recent "Osama Found" adware campaign and Bizex worm attack show how easily IM technology can be manipulated to fool users into opening malicious code. Osama Found was particularly sneaky. It took advantage of IM buddy lists to propagate its message. Users clicked on the link they received, believing the messages were sent by trusted contacts. Add comment

Short-Media Version 3 Goes Live!

(April 08, 2004) After 3 long months of work Short-Media.com will switch over to a new main site. The new front page offers a cleaner design, easier navigation and a whole host of features including integration between the forums and the main page. Main page visitors and forum regulars can now comment on news items, stories, articles and reviews and both area comments are shared. In the forums the forum regular will see comments posted on the main page and vice versa. "It's like a third hidden site." says Short-Media's webmaster and coder Shorty. "It's really cool. We know some people like the main page and some like the forums. Say a regular to the main page posts something interesting on a story or a review...a forum visitor sees the thread like they usually do but they now see the main page comment. If they post something back then the main page visitor will see that too. Both places at once." Add comment

Antec’s Intellectual Property debate about LED Fans?

The Overclocker Cafe has gotten a hold of an e-mail Antec's attorneys are sending out to their distributors outlining their patent on LED fans. It seems as if Antec is going to assert themselves on this point to the rest of the market. This whole thing brings several questions to mind with what are online retailers to do with existing non-Antec stocks as well not being the least. Add comment

NV40 3DMark 2003 scores

NV40 3DMark 2003 scores revealed. [blockquote]Numerous sources have confirmed that a Futuremark 3DMark 2003 score of 12,535 has apparently been demonstrated by Nvidia on its pre-production engineering samples. To put this in perspective, this story is brought to you by a tweaked AMD Athlon 64 FX system based on a Gigabyte GA-K8NNXP-940 mainboard with 1GB of Corsair XMS DDR, and is equipped with the current king of 3D gaming cards, an ATI Radeon 9800XT. This rock steady, real-world system benches a strong 7382 under 3DMark 2003 Build 340 at default settings,[/blockquote] More at [link=http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=15169]The Inquirer[/link] Add comment
