Security company [b]Symbiot[/b] is about to launch a product that can hit back at hackers and DDoS attacks by lashing out with its own arsenal of tricks, but experts say it may just be a bit too trigger-happy.

The head developer of [b]Nvidia[/b]'s ForceWare MM products has lashed out at [b]ATI[/b] for their apparently poor quality drivers.

ATI's Cat 4.2 drivers are terrible (alright they just plain suck) with HDTV playback on either VMR7 or VMR9 using DXVA. I should know, I tried them myself on a 9600 pro. No problem on a GeForce FX 5700 though... As for the softer look on VMR9, again, the drivers and hardware are the ones doing the job here, not the decoder. Also if the PC is rebooting on a crash, it's likely the BSOD kernel fault in the display driver. XP should tell you this after rebooting. In any case, our software has very little control over the problems you've mentioned since they sound ATI driver releated.

Here's some more information regarding the current [i]Doom 3[/i] system requirements confusion.

first: the interview is ripped off out of the context of the whole article (3 pages).
second: the system requirements that are quoted from the interview are misunderstanding. id software is totally correct in saying that they are not true. the problem is that you have to delete words like "at least" or "minimum".
what we like to communicate are not minimum system levels - obviously these are not determined yet. our focus was on full detail gameplay.
in addition, the interview was offered by a freelancer and came it last minute. it's a big pity that we didn't eliminate the faults in there. i just hope that id software and all the guys that are keen on playing doom 3 accept my excuse. i hope that doom 3 sells a lot of copies.

Camera maker [b]Kodak[/b] has launched a federal lawsuit against [b]Sony[/b], saying its rival's digital cameras and camcorders infringe on [b]Kodak[/b] patents.

[b]Microsoft[/b] is looking to provide desktop users with more information regarding the state of their anti-virus protection. The goal of the new security program, called [i]Microsoft Security Center[/i], will be to monitor the state of computer protection on a PC, and warn users of possible issues.
[blockquote]Microsoft Security Center (MSC) will not scan for viruses itself; rather, it will verify that anti-virus software is installed and running. It will also monitor other security-related areas, such as personal firewall software and automatic security patch-download settings. MSC will be released later this year within XP's service pack update.[/blockquote]

A new variant of the [i]Sober[/i] worm surfaced this morning which pretends to be a [b]Microsoft[/b] software update that protects against a new version of the [i]MyDoom[/i] worm.
[blockquote]Once activated the worm displays a patch loading screen, but harvests email addresses and mails itself out using its own SMTP engine.
The email, written in either English or German, has the headline 'Microsoft alert: please read!' The body text adds: 'New MyDoom virus variant detected - please download this digitally signed attachment.'[/blockquote]
