Load an OS on a flash drive?

I have a new Sandisk Cruzer Mini 1 GB USB flash drive. :type:

I was wondering if I could install it to a computer with no hard drive connected, and use the flash drive in place of the hard drive to load / store / run the operating system. Something like Windows 98.

I probably wouldn't run the computer very long like this even if it does work, it's just something I was thinking about trying to do.:buck:

1GB? It would be interesting... I might have to buy one of those minidisks 4GB to see how well it'll work ;)

It should work. When you go to install Windows and it asks you what drive to install it to, the USB flash drive should come up on that list as long as your motherboard can boot from them, and you have it plugged in before POSTing.
