New laptop just doesnt cut it!!

edited December 2007 in Gaming
Ok well im back after buying a £400 laptop and im very dissapointed.

I know £400 aint a lot but the specs say it should be better than what it is.

fujitsu siemans amilo li1705
intel pentium core 2 duo processor
2 gig ram
(supposedly) 256 graphics
120G Hd

And it wont play games for **** every game i install runs really choppy like its got lag and all settings are auto set to low so the graphics are pathetic.

Now ive searched the web and cant find anything about it as too why its so crap so was hoping all you wise people here may be able to come up with an answer.

Thanks in advance

    I'm guessing it's running Vista.

If so, you might consider putting XP on it instead, as this would greatly improve performance.

Try to install the latest driver for your graphics chipset. VIA should have it.

It still might not be great, but it might be an improvement.

I think this is your chipset.

Unichrome, made by S3, is just not a gaming-grade video chipset, there's no way around it. Upgrading from Vista to XP will help, certainly... but I don't think you'll be able to play any modern games at a reasonable pace on that machine no matter what.
