I thought the 3d stuff was really bad. It's the same image quality as 1985 3d flicks. All they did was put it in a tv...big whoop. As I agree the 2d television have taken a huge step forward in image quality, enough to say I was impressed (sony in particular). I think 3D tv will be a flop. The biggest problem is the glasses. I think it can have good home in gaming and porn of course, but not in the home theater market.
Once they get holographic TV then we we'll see a huge change in how we watch TV in our homes.
I think by making the 2d stuff so incredible they made a very high standard for 3d to meet. Hey maybe I'm wrong but from what I saw today I just don't see it taking off.
I'm so excited for 3d gaming. My bud and I are setting up our home theater room with a 3d projector and a 110" screen. Gonna be awesome. I'm just hoping I won't need a new receiver to push 3d through.
I've played UT, quake, need for speed, and a few other games in 3d back when elsa supported their 3d glasses. It was great but it never worked perfect with FPS games because of the cross hair. No matter how much you adjusted, you'd end up seeing two cross hairs. If you used the one offered by elsa it was great. I just remember not all games would let you play with no cross hair. Hopefully thinks will change.
Also another bad thing is how much darker things get with shutter glasses. You end up having to over saturate the image just too see good. Hopefully this time around all these issues will be handled.
