No. this dude is pretty excited.

My excitement level is not as high as his, but I look forward to seeing future images of our lovely 9th planet.

Countdown to Pluto sounds like an amazingly cheesy 1950s SciFi film.

  • It is simply amazing. Think about everything that goes into beaming a signal from that massive distance. NASA has the coolest toys. I mean sometimes I can't even get my Smart TV to stream in 1080p from 30 ft away over the wifi, but NASA, they shot a bunch of binary digits to form a picture from about two billion miles away. It just blows my mind thinking about it.

To be fair, the data coming in at like 1 Kbaud and we'll still be downloading the data from this week in September. Most people wouldn't put up with streaming that slow but it's not like you can get pictures from Pluto on BitTorrent.

At its furthest it is but I believe right now it is at about 2.6 billion and the telescope is actually about half a billion miles away getting these images. At least that's how I recall it from PBS the other night.

As amazing as the new images of Pluto are, the images of the scientists seeing them for the first time is a close second place for entertainment.
