smitfraud help

I've tried to fix this on my own but its just not working. I have up to date ad aware and spybot and Pest Patrol and they cannot find anything anymore. I have run Panda online and it finds smitfraud stuff. I can only work in safe mode with networking. I have norton but it does not work in safe mode. Tried to put the trail Panda on my computer but will not work with Norton. Cannot remove Norton in safe mode. I get an error "Application Failed explorer.EXE". Then a blank blue screen comes up. I hope you can help. Thanks in advance.

Download smitRem.zip and save the file to your desktop.
Right click on the file and extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Please make sure that you can VIEW ALL HIDDEN FILES.

Place a checkmark next to these entries, close all browsers and windows, and have HijackThis fix them by clicking Fix Checked:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [intel32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\intel32.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [LRPatch] "C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\LRPatch.exe" /RUN
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [NAVMD25] C:\WINDOWS\UpdtNv28.exe
    O16 - DPF: {AB29A544-D6B4-4E36-A1F8-D3E34FC7B00A} - http://install.wildtangent.com/bgn/partners/ea/needforspeed/install.cab
    O23 - Service: Panda Process Protection Service (PavPrSrv) - Panda Software - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Panda Software\PavShld\pavprsrv.exe

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

Then delete these files (Do not be concerned if they do not exist):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\intel32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\UpdtNv28.exe

    Delete temp files

Navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Navigate to the C:\Windows\Prefetch folder. Open the Prefetch folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Prefetch folder.

Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box. The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

    Empty the Recycle Bin.

    Reboot your computer.

Run Panda's online virus scan and then post the log that you get after the scan. I need to see which files are present but can not be removed.

    Panda Virus Scan

Reboot once again and post a new hijackthis log and the info from Panda scan.

Since I wrote many things have occured. I performed a windows repair installation which created my ability to boot in normal mode. I ran updated spybot and adware and they found and rid my computer of several items. Norton is up to date and has done a full system scan and found nothing. I did everything you said. After running Panda this last time it found a couple items which i'll share with my new hijackthis log.
The virus was disinfected by Panda.

    Adware:Adware\SaveNow Window Registry
    Adware:Adware\CWS C:\documents and settings\devin stewart\favorites\Health

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

    Viewpoint Manager
    Viewpoint Media Player

Run msconfig and enable all startup items. Then reboot and post a new log.
  • edited July 2005
I removed both viewpoints and enabled my array of startups. This is the resulting log. I appreciate the help.
