[Solved]Google Redirects in IE, downloader.zlob.aty and God knows what else!

Hello,
Can someone help me interpret/root out some evil bug that may still be lurking in my machine? Here are the details:
- Started getting google redirects in Firefox 2.0 and Iexplorer 7.
- Ran hijack this and found search assistant/static dns server entries. Deleted these. Google redirects stopped in Firefox but continued in Iexplorer.
-Scanned pc with Avast AV, CA Etrust Pest patrol (which found some traces of a trojan), Webroot Spyweeper (nothing found), Spybot S&D (nothing found) and Lavasoft Adaware (nothing found). Tried these tools in safe mode - no results. Run basic ZoneAlarm firewall.
- Ran Ewido scanner and found entry for downloader.zlob.aty. Ewido could not quarantine file, perhaps because it was in a temp file and in memory. Ran ewido in safe mode and followed suggestions in this forum (entry under downloader.zlob.aty) to delete file and it seemed to take. However, I am not sure the trojan/bug is totally gone. Am i missing anything here? Below are latest scans from Hijackthis (run as renamed file), uninstall list in same, and log for fixwareout. Any ideas welcome.

    Hello klimi, welcome to Short-Media Forums! :)

    You did a good job on running FixWareout and doing what you could. Please do the following...

    Click Start > Run > type in appwiz.cpl and hit enter. From the list uninstall the following, if present:

    ewido anti-spyware 4.0 <-- There is a different version out. Uninstall this and we will download the new one later.
    __________________________

    Now, lets check some settings on your system

    (2000/XP) Only
    • Click Start > Connect to > Show all connections.
    • Right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl.
    • Left click on Properties.
    • Click the Networking tab.
    • Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically.
    • Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks. (That option might not be avaiable on some systems).
    Next!
    • Click Start > Run type cmd and hit OK.
    • Type ipconfig /flushdns then hit enter, (Note: there is a space between ipconfig and /flushdns).
    • Type exit hit enter.
    __________________________

    Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
    http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
    Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

    Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
    Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
    This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

    IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!
    __________________________

    Post the following:

    1) Contents of C:\rapport.txt
    2) New HijackThis log

    Do you recognise these programs?

    Ok. Here are results -
    - tcp ip properties tab = dns had shifted to 'use these server' instead of auto, though no servers were listed. Set to auto. Flushed dns cache.
    -removed ewido 4.0 and dnloaded new AVG version (not installed yet).
    - ran smitfraudfix search:

    I found this in the log - while running new ewido/AVG anti-spy (regular mode):
    AVG Anti-Spyware - Scan Report

    + Created at: 4:58:40 PM 11/15/2006

    + Scan result:

    C:\System Volume Information\_restore{106CF321-99A3-4E3A-9103-1BD027606A99}\RP563\A0058978.exe -> Downloader.Zlob.aty : Cleaned with backup (quarantined).
    C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\Cookies\hp_administrator@trafic[1].txt -> TrackingCookie.Trafic : Cleaned.

    ::Report end

    I deleted the quarantined file and rebooted under safe mode and got the following:

    AVG Anti-Spyware - Scan Report

    + Scan result:

    Nothing found.

    ::Report end

    Log is clean.

    Are you still having problems?
  • edited November 2006
    Thanks for the help. Much appreciated. Looks like the bug is gone. I should run the different utilities once in a while to make sure no re-infections take place.

    Case Closed, I guess.

    Cheers -
