TF2 random pickup games

For those who always say things like: "Every time I try to play TF2 nobody is playing", take note: Last night I jumped on to the Icrontic server, completely empty, invited four people, and started playing. We screwed around on koth_lakeside for a bit, just deathmatching, until a few more people joined. They invited a friend or two, and within 15 minutes we had a full server.

We then proceeded to play for two hours, and had a complete and total riot.

Yeah, the announcement shot up on steam while we were creating snowballs. Midga and I disconnected and headed over to the IC server. Ryo showed up and I thought the same thing, "Whoa". Then Hitman got back from his Taco run and was talking to Ryo in Vent. Comes to light that he was actually playing Minecraft in between rounds of TF2. No mining /crafting time was lost.

Last night our server got visited by a team of 4-8 tournament players. They all went on the same team and raped face, spawn camped, and out-played us to a massive degree. Which was all fine.

Some of the IC guys were mad about the skill disparity, but to me that was just being babies. It's good to be humbled once in a while. We're all pretty casual players, certainly none of us play TF2 professionally. I tried to be positive about it and remind everyone that it was all good; maybe being skillfully spawn-camped was a good lesson to learn on how to break that strategy. We finally broke it.

What was NOT fine is that they were dicks about it. They started changing their names to be mean. I'm not sure what joy a "pro" would derive from going onto a random server with their team and trouncing casual players, but they seemed to get some glee out of it. When they started insulting IC players, I started banning. The "parting shot" from the ringleader as I perceived him to be, was the hilariously childish "Have you ever been killed by a sponsored tournament player?" LOL BRO

The point of my story is: It's a video game. For the most part, I'm really happy with the way the IC guys handled it; we laughed about it and took our spanking in good stride. Nobody on our side was an asshole.

I'd rather we act the way we did than the way they did, that's for sure.

It was interesting playing with "pros" last night. Good thing my mic was not working....

I had fun last night. Two of their guys came on and were being tools in voice chat, so they got muted. In retaliation they called in their homies and proceeded to stomp face. Let it be known that the two that got muted weren't tools in voice chat after they were unmuted later. All in all it was a good time.

After the faceraep we had some fun at a sawmill. Prime smiled for the camera :D

Is funny to me. They weren't sponsored players, they weren't good enough. Also it's very rare to see "pro" players being assholes like they were. They were probably some mid-level ugc 6's team.
