SM LAN 2005 - LATE JULY 2005 or AUGUST 2005 - thread two

We are narrowing this down to a pretty positive date range. If things stand as they are, we are pretty sure this is going down on either the weekend of July 22nd or July 29th in Warren, MI.

Registration will probably be $20 as it was last year. I'll get firm info such as what to bring, what to expect, etc. either today or tomorrow.

Sorry it took so long, things were very discouraging for a while, but Keebs came through with a monster plan and now the ball is rolling again. Post in here if you can attend on those dates.

We're trying to come up with dates, nothing is set in stone yet.

We picked that weekend so far for the following reasons:

1) It gives people time to plan, it's still several months away

2) It's in summer, before school starts (right before for some people)

3) Shorty can make it

We can make it later still, but I'm afraid that the school season will cut heavily into attendance if we do that

We have one group of people that are good to go in July, and another that August works better for.

I always hate this part of it. No matter what dates are chosen, someone won't be able to go

According to this poll the best date range was late july.

How about July 22-24 or 29-31?

I'm not sure. My classes finish at the end of May but the graduation is on the last days of July. After that, I'm not sure when they give the college board (sat equivalent for you gringos). To make things worse, I was planning on looking for a job right after I finish (or when I finally get my driver's license). I'm probably good to go in August but then I'd have to plan which bank to rob to get the dough I thought the class was gonna pay me when it finshed but they paid monthly so things aren't really going as planned.

July is certainly a lot better for me than August; I'm getting married Aug 13, and leaving for my honeymoon on Aug 21.

If I'm able to attend travel-wise, it'd be after July 29. In fact I might fly over Detroit that day (Chicago->Baltimore... well not quite eh )

Haha ok. It does make me think twice though... I mean, people are coming from the Chicago area... I'll be in O'Hare at 6PM the 29th... if I could change my return flight to like Detroit->Baltimore a couple days later (more convenient than getting to Detroit from here!) would I be able to get a ride or something? Do I need a computer? (I'll be coming back from study abroad in Beijing)

Chances are you could work something out with somebody from the chicago area.

You would need a computer though.... Although last year some people lent parts like monitors and stuff so that people wouldn't have to drive around with 20" CRTs

If this thing goes July 29th, I'll be heading in Late Wednesday night (the 27th). O'Comic will be by driver... so we will already be there EMT. We COULD bing an extra PC, I have quite a few "laying" around.

We will be in Detroit... sorry for the mis-direction. Priceline is showing a flight from Chicago to Detroit as $66 dollars. Where are you heading after the LAN. We could probably work out something to bring you back to Chicago, if nessecary, on sunday the 31st.

I didn't vote, because I can probably make it either date. If I did have a preference it would be for the later weekend, since I'm hoping there will be another 4th of July bash. That would spread them out a little.
