dydx: Why do you need an extra IP address to use XBL?

A Router doesnt have an external IP address ever anyway, you only need more than one external IP address if you dont want the hassle of Port forwarding or using NAT (which is automatic). You just need to stick the X-Box into the Switch/Hub/Router and thats it, you dont need and extra IP address.

Ah, you are listening to what the NTL techs tell you to do, rather than doing it yourself, I wouldnt.
I wouldnt listen to what they tell you, as you will end up buying some crap overpriced equip which they get paid extra to advertise etc etc, but in general, dont listen to compaines "recommendations".

Does anyone know how much bandwidth xbox live uses?

Will I see a slowdown in internet access while playing xbox live games?

I have 1mbit down/256 up cable btw.

You shouldnt really notice, well with PC games your ping will not differ if you use 128k or 1024k - it only needs so much.

Yes, but it depends on the game. Also if you are downloading off say, Kazaa on your PC then it will kill the ping on your X-Box, its basically the same as PC gaming, just alot less options.

Should be no more than say 5KBps, as Teamspeak on the PC sounds ok and you can still play games on a modem while using it without adverse effects.
