Yes, it's true. It's not made out of wood, it's not behind bullet-proof glass at the Tokyo Game Show - it's a real live PS3 and the guys at PSM3Mag got to play it today. The two Sony reps that were kind enough to bring PSM3Mag the machine brought it in a bag, popped it out and placed it on their table. They than connected it to their TV and we were away. Forget any dev-kit speculation and empty cases. PS3 is real and it works brilliantly, according to PSM3Mag.

Blu-ray manufactures seem to not want to sell their precious high-definition recorders in the U.S. It looks as if Japanese manufactures told ZDNet they are not convinced that Americans will buy them. As we seem to be too keen on our Tivo recorders, according to their thinking.

IBM has officially released its first computing system based around the Cell Broadband Engine or what we now call Cell BE. Cell BE was originally developed by IBM, Sony and Toshiba for use in consoles. By using multi-core architecture and ultra high-speed communications capabilities, Cell BE computers, usually Blade servers, can produce super-computer like performance.

Despite it's price and other gaming consoles available in the market, the PS3 still created a buzz at the Tokyo game show as Japanese gamers got their first chance to play the new console.

With the market becoming competitive daily, Sony has already announced a price cut for its next Gen console. Sony will cut the domestic price of its basic PlayStation 3 model to 47,600 yen, or about $410 USD, from an originally planned 59,800 yen, or $515 USD. That puts the PlayStation 3 in the same range as the combined basic Xbox 360 and HD DVD player in Japan, where the duo will sell for 49,600 yen, or $427 USD. There are no plans to lower prices in the U.S. or other markets.

ATI has been boasting about 80nm tech coming out for its new chipsets, but it looks as if Nvidia released the GeForce 7700 rather than talk about it. This now makes Nvidia the first graphics manufacturer to produce 80nm GPU’s to the retail market.
