Re: Star Wars Episode VIII discussion
I didn't mean to derail to talking about future Star Wars efforts. Good news is bad Dino / Star Lord movie guy has been upgraded to JJ Abrams. Thank the maker.
Re: Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season 2017 edition
We made it through. We lost pretty much all of our fence so we're going to have to replace that when we actually have enough money to do that, but no major structural damage to our house so that's good. We had alot of unexpected expenses prepping so it might be awhile before we can repair the fence, but we're lucky that we have no major damage to our house. The people across the street lost a big tree in their yard that has a root ball as tall as thier house, so they're lucky it fell towards the street and not on thier house.

Re: Pokemon GO
It took me four raids, but I finally caught a Raikou and I'm pretty pleased with it

Re: Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season 2017 edition
Talked to him this morning, all of it receded before coming into the house. The rain stopped about 1am and therefore let things calm down.
Yay!

Pretty cool stuff in Detroit
Adam Savage (from Mythbusters) visited a Detroit (startup, I guess?) called Incite Focus. Their goal sounds pretty damn cool. Lots of open source collaboration to solve housing problems in more places than just Detroit.

Re: Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season 2017 edition
We're ok. No major damage, just a few fence panels down. Lots of trees down in the area. We have been without power since 10PM last night. It's getting hot in here, so you know how the song goes...

Re: Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season 2017 edition
storm shutters are not to block the wind, but to stop debris.
Your neighbors lawn chair at 120mph does a lot of damage.
I know someone that made 'fence panels' that come off of the fence and bolt over some windows.
Using as fence gives him a place to store them.
Re: Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season 2017 edition
Nice work Joe!
I am fine here in Tallahassee, we never saw much of the storm except a few hours of 50 mph winds and a lot of rain. I never lost power, though most of town was out at one point or another. Good portion of my friends are without power as well as most of my family. My sister in the Orlando area is fine, they had a tree land on part of the house, but she said there doesn't appear to be major damage. My parents down on the coast are fine, just going to be without power for a few days as a tree took at a pole on their street.
I think its time to fire up the grill.
Re: Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season 2017 edition
Here's my house as of this morning btw. I only had enough plywood to cover the big skylight window in our Master Bedroom you see on the left but I had just replaced part of my fence in the back yard so I had several old fence panels to use for the other widows.
