So the MSRP is gonna be what? $1,600? The teaser on the site looks WAY better aesthetically than VPIs other turntables. Will these be assembled in Detroit using components from New Jersey?I'm really interested to see where Shinola wants to play in the market.
It's an interesting space. We'll be coming in higher than $1600. They are designed by us, using our supply chain of existing materials and suppliers from our other products, and yes, they are going to be assembled here using components from all over. There are some pretty big features that separate us from the pack which I can't talk about yet, but I think people will understand the pricing once they understand what they're getting.
Re: Battlefield 1
Battlefield 1 is out, and if you'll allow me to indulge myself for a moment, I wanna talk about it.
This game is SO GOOD.
as a fan of the Battlefield series since the very beginning, Battlefield 1 is the best game DICE have made in a very long while. BF1 feels like Bad Company 2 + the fun factor of Star Wars Battlefront. The destruction, the weapon focus, the maps, and the way the vehicles balance with the infantry game... they just really, truly nailed it.
The singleplayer, while a touch short, it intense and emotional, and quite possibly the best singleplayer experience DICE have ever created (save for the silly and amazing Bad Company storylines). It doesn't feel tacked on like the last three games. It'll make you really sit up and take notice - you're in the middle of the most horrific war ever, and they're not going to let you forget it.
The multiplayer is a blast, and scratches that classic Battlefield itch. You just can't go wrong with it. And if you haven't played Operations mode yet, try it. It'll blow your mind. Quite possibly the best mode in the game.
I've been playing with a few IC peeps the last couple of days, here are a couple screenshots. Squad up with us!
(also seriously. These graphics. Dat Frostbite.)

Re: Nintendo Switch (formerly codenamed NX) and mobile gaming
Why hello all you beautiful people!!!!
Re: Nintendo Switch (formerly codenamed NX) and mobile gaming
I am sold. This is brilliant.
Let me offer myself as the near-ideal Nintendo anecdote:
- I don't get that much play out of Wii U because it takes over the TV in a fixed spot.
- I definitely am not buying the same game for both mobile and the living room.
- I don't wanna commit to a mobile system because it's a tiny screen; given 1 copy, I'll take console.
- I don't have the patience to readjust to different controller form factors for 1 game.
- I loooooove Mario Kart 8 and Mario Bros Wii U but only play them maybe once a month because I'm not a big fan of being stuck in the living room / the TV is often taken at the time I want to play.
- I am exactly the guy who wants to use the kickstand and hide in the attic to play Mario Kart. Or grab it into the pub or basement to play with friends while other people are watching a movie.
This is exactly the scenario/system that would get me to play the games I already love more and put me in a position where I'm more likely to try more games.
Bonus points for not succumbing to a touch screen or other such nonsense.
Nailed it.
