@Cliff_Forster, I haven't used Xubuntu much, but it also has the Windows 7 style menu, so should be easy enough for a Windows user. I don't use Linux enough to want to learn a lot of real computer stuff. But Linux works and there are many flavors. And its free.
Thanks for the WiFi advice. I was planning to install Linux on an old laptop that will probably need an adapter.

@BlueTattoo - Zorin is definately a more stylish and more windows like distro than Xubuntu. Xubuntu is basically a Ubuntu distro that choses the xfce desktop vs. Gnome or KDE. xfce is lightweight in comparison. Not as interesting looking, it is a boring looking desktop in comparison to something like Zorin or even plain Ubuntu or Kubuntu, but what it excels at is running snappy on dated hardware. Got a single core machine with 512 mb of RAM, Xubuntu is a good bet to get some extra life out of your machine.
Totally recommend that adapter to anyone who is interested in playing around with Linux on different machines. You simply plug it in, the icon appears and you sign on to your network. Best Linux wifi adapter I have used by a mile. I haven't found a situation where it doesn't just plug and play yet.

Ladies and Gentlemen we at Sotheby's of London are proud to bring you this very rare item. The previous owner of this item refused to part with it, the only known surviving set of four. Luckily for us he recently died and his greedy children are now selling off all of his cool stuff.
This stemless style was popular in the early to mid-21st century. Primarily seen in entertaining, the deeply curved bowl and relatively small rim allows the delivery of the wine to the perfect parts of your tongue for tasting and has the added bonus of allowing for a concentrated bouquet.
As any underhanded swirling connoisseur will attest, this still of goblet is the superior vessel of choice. Lack of a stem serves the dual purpose of raising the center of gravity for improved swirling, as well as decreasing the chance of accidental and embarrassing mid-monologue bumps.

Join us Sept 3-6 for our annual Maryland Renaissance Faire outing over Labor Day Weekend!
Typically, it goes something like this:
Thursday: Show up at @Annes & @pragtastic's place in Alexandria, VA (or early Friday if need be)
Friday: Decamp for Anne's parents' house in Maryland (near the Renn Faire) & make a big dinner and play boardgames.
Saturday: Renn Faire all day!
Sunday: ???
Because of space constraints this event caps at a dozen guests. BYO sleeping surface (there are additional beds at the parents' house, tho, Fri & Sat). Renn ticket is $19 - typically we buy them as a group just before the event so just slip @Annes a twenty.
We highly recommend flying into DCA. From DCA (Reagan), take the Metro 2 stops on the Blue OR Yellow line to King St Old Town (towards Franconia-Springfield or Huntington, respectively). We'll pick you up curbside from there if you text us (there is a bus stop & parking lot just outside the station's main exit).
Maryland Rennaisance Festival is pretty awesome. Lots of great beer on tap, seafood & other delicious fare, and a large shaded village of shops and attractions to tour around. There is the annual testing of strength at the hammer drop, axe throwing, and some good shows. New initiates should be prepared to stare in awe and wonder at the fantastic Goodly Woods stand and be severely tempted to join the Icrontic wooden mug club.
