Re: Wanna ride bikes?
I'm going to start bike commuting this year also. After our recent move, I'm now within biking distance of one of the schools I teach for. We're also now within range of a grocery store, and I've already done a few bicycle grocery runs on nice days.

Re: Wanna ride bikes?
Time for bompz.
Got the Hardrock and it sat on my shelf (I HAVE A HUGE SHELF) in my office for years, looking all rad. This year, I finally got out riding it. Me and some buddies got the mountain bike bug. After a season of riding my Hardrock, it's become pretty evident it's not suited for the trails we ride. I went ahead and upgraded the Suntour fork to a Rockshox Tora 318 85-130mm U-turn coil adjustable... which made a hell of a difference in ride quality and actually shaved some weight. Still, the 26" wheels and v-brakes don't make riding our rocky, rutted trails much fun. The Hardrock is good for flowing XC singletrack, but we tend to ride more all mountain. So an upgrade is in the works, but for now I'm determined to get as much out of my bike as possible.
Part of my plan involves building better riding stamina and improving my pedal skillz, so to do that, I purchased a fixed gear bike. My goal is to commute on it this summer and force myself to become a better cyclist.
Then, down the road I'll get a 650b or 29er. Probably full-suspension. Probably with the ability to fit 3" or wider tires to better tackle the sand on our trails.
My buddy I ride with has a Trek Superfly FS and he can clear most of the crap we encounter without issues, so perhaps I'm over complicating things a bit.

New Raspberry Pi 2 on sale
The Pi 2 has a new Broadcom chip, a quad core 900MHz Cortex-A7. It also has 1GB of RAM, and keeps the same port layout as the B+ model. Taking the middle ground of several benchmarks, it's roughly six times as fast as 700MHz single core ARMv6 in the first Raspberry Pi, and double the RAM of the B+ model released last July.
The Pi 2 will also support Windows 10, and it will be available for free.
I just bought a B+ last week, since it was my understanding that the Pi wouldn't get updated again for a long time.
Anyone else have a Pi, or thinking about getting the v2?

Seriously I'll never understand people getting worked up about the sanctity of the game.

Child of Light(8.7 hours): Interesting art style and battle mechanics. Played the demo on PS3 because my x thought I would enjoy it, she did. Caved on it along with several other games during the winter sale. They give you a lot of things to help you not lose. Strangely your party can only be 2 characters plus your ball of light thing, the main character can be swapped out. I say strange because you are fighting against 3 enemies a lot of the time which the way the casting/wait phase works makes it really hard in the last 3rd of the game.
The art style is a lot like "The Secret of Kells" but if you look at everything carefully you can see it is still rendered as a 3 dimensional model which is nice because then that allows characters in the game to really twist and bend without destroying the 2d perspective they are building the game around. Again another game where all the model and detection work is really well done, some times when you attach to an object to manipulate it things get off but I always consider that a moot point since you have already joined to it. This is an adventure game with major RPG elements and getting into fights with enemies involves running into them so you can avoid a lot fights if you want to skip areas. Now how you hit them depends on advantage to either side, this works like the spies backstab code -_- . There are plenty of simple puzzles to solve and most of them involve light or defeating the darkness, major play on good v evil. This brings about the fact you have a second "person" you control all the time, he is a small sprite/orb thing that shines on stuff to open doors, cast shadows, and make enemies cower. Blinding enemies allows you to sneak past them or in battle to slow them down in waiting/casting phases. This function is great because if you hit someone while they are casting then they are interrupted and their timer resets. So, you can have someone ahead of you casting but blind them and beat them to the punch blocking their turn. This sounds awesome, and kind of is, but it works against so much in later fights due to enemies just being so much faster than you. The light also heals you.
There are a huge number of things that I have never seen before in a game which made this all really interesting, except for the all the rhymed dialogue because that was annoying. Glad to be done with it quickly but the last 2 hours were grinding on me because several of the last major battles are long and I was not managing my buffs/healing well.
Games Completed: 69
Time: 3 weeks 91.77 hours
PS: If I ever finish this I better get something, literally think about the Backlog of Shame every other day.
