Re: Music on vinyl
I am a devotee of the album format; buying singles is a rarity for me. If you can't construct a coherent album, I don't want your music.
I've been thinking a lot about the pub and how I want to pipe music in there. I heard a report on NPR yesterday that vinyl sales are the only format of music that increased in 2014, and that they're actually a measurable percent of sales (again) since 2008, which made me realize the format wasn't as doomed as I'd assumed. And I thought about albums like Give Up by the Postal Service and what brilliant works of art they are.
Then I realized Barnes & Noble sells vinyl - and I always have coupons & gift cards for that store kicking around (home renovations + B&N MasterCard = points points points points points).
So I made my first vinyl purchases today:
- Give Up (Postal Service)
- Let Live and Let Ghosts (Jukebox the Ghost)
- Some Nights (fun.)
Time to rifle thru dad's collection when I go home for Xmas (I know he has Dark Side of the Moon, for starters), and @Aaron apparently has a bunch squirreled away at his parents' place.
I guess that puts me in the market for a record player.

I have some stuff I've picked up on vinyl, but it's not gonna touch a needle until I have a REALLY good system for it. I don't like the idea of my media degrading every time I play it.
I think that is one of the charms for me. It's slightly more alive (not to say that it's better because of that) than a digital recording and has all the associations of that physical piece you carry with it.
Re: Music on vinyl
I'm super picky about buying music, to the point where I just don't buy it most times. All of my music purchases in the past year have been vinyl and I plan on sticking with it but have one requirement: it has to include a DRM free digital download.
Having the freedom to have it digitally but also the physical media (and some of the really kick ass artwork/presentation that goes into vinyl) definitely makes me feel good about buying it.
Re: The "Everything is Different" Vanilla feature and bug discussion
I actually like the currentmobile version. I dunno how many people use it, but any drunk-arse going to bars alone at noon knows that a proper mobile design is nice...

South Park™: The Stick of Truth™(10.4 hours): fart Bro SICK. This was a game that I have anticipated playing for about a year before release and since then I have been waiting for it on the cheap because I can wait a year for most games.....because of this stupid backlog junk. The story is what you have to expect in this game since it is South Park and what else is the show known for besides great plot and story development. So much of the game is just spot on for what you would expect and want from this game. Farting, poop, things up butts, sex, ew girls, jesus, kids being fuckshits. There are some elements missing which kind of makes you sad but there had to be reasons for it.
Gameplay is fairly solid. They implemented an attack/block scheme that feels sloppy at times and timing can be unfair while using certain abilities. You can kill off enemies before some battles which without doing so would make them impossible. Half way through the game it seemed like there was a swift uptick in difficulty for no real reasons since all battles moving forward just seemed that much harder. I knocked out a bunch of the side quest but the 7 hour mark really started to drag due to quest chaining and rough battles. The puzzles and shortcuts were all pretty straight forward except for one stupid elevator that had to be fixed and it felt like someone overlooked it and never had a play tester check it.
Bought the game at about $17 with both DLCs, bought the DLCs because I believed in the game despite them just being classes and outfits. Next time this game is onsale get it despite Ubisoft publishing it.
Games Completed: 59
Time: 3 weeks 19.17 hours

Re: Text longer than 255 characters in Excel cells
Oh, if I could I certainly would, but where I work doesn't allow that...doesn't allow much of anything really.
BUUUUUUUUUUT, because @CannonFodder's awesome, the formula worked. You guys' brains is so great, now I'm smarter for knowing. Thanks dude and thanks, everyone!
Edit: @Tushon is right.
