3DMark 2003 scores

Recently gnomewizardd was asking about his 3D mark scores. Croc said his 9800Pro scored in the 6800 range. I have an ATI 9800 Pro, so I figured I'd see when mine would go.
At 6057, I began to see some "snow". So, just for grins, I ran 3DMark 2001SE, and got 14452. That really surprised me, as at default, it has run 2001 at 15098.
I have a temp probe, on the underside of the video card, directly under the proc. The temp got to 46C. and the CPU was running pretty close to that.
Does running multiple tests, back to back, make a difference? How much does heat play into this. (I didn't think my temps were bad)
If 2003 tests mainly the video card, why the big difference between Croc's and mine?
Thanks;
Dragstk

    Below...

CPU at 3.25Ghz on retail cooling, GPU at 500Mhz and memory at 1.0Ghz (bios flashed to 5950Ultra and retail cooling)

Im back to default clockspeeds on everything for a bit tho...

About the back to back tests and heat... If you overclock and it gets to hot near the end of the test... then when you run another test after it, it might overheat suddenly or get "up there" and may automatically set down lower thus lowering the temperature... but ALSO lowering your overall test score. So give the hardware some time to cool down (2-3 minutes I would say) between tests.

My 9800 pro is running @ 460 core / 360 mem, and my cpu @ 3.7ghz (232 fsb). What speeds are you running?

lol... seeing as your computer isn't in the range CPU wise... that might explain your score :P the 9800Pro is being held back :(

My best results were with the 9800Pro running 425/378. Running any higher,it started to "snow". I'm running stock XP 2600 (2.08). So, the CPU does have quite a bit of effect on 3DMark scores? How much does system memory come into play? I'm running PC-2700 (1Gig) Is there really that much difference from one card to another?

I really haven't checked... Maybe I'll flash my card to a 5950Ultra later today but leave everything else stock and see how it plays out.

I'm pretty sure I won't pull anywhere near my 6840 but I'd like to see :)

Well we do have quite a bit of difference between our two systems. 1.7ghz and 66mhz FSB would account for alot I assume.

We need to find someone else with a system similar to yours and run it at the same speeds to really find out.

Ok, I looked at some other scores of xp systems with the 9800 pro. 6000 looks to be about right for your setup.

2k3 I score around 6k after a new format and install but i also Didnt spend 400 bucks on a video card i spent 180 bucks on a video card, So i am happy with my score 2k1 i get 18k both scores are stock on cpu and video

I would say yours is around right for that card. but 2k1 should be higher than 14k

But benchmark are benchmarks as long as it plays the games I am happy!

Wow... your 3d Mark 01 score is 3k better than mine... Could it be the ram or CPU?

    I couldn't pull 18K with 3.2Ghz overclock and the flashed 5950U either...

Im happy with my 200 dollar 5900 too :D
