Getting time for a new keyboard and mouse

Hello friends. My Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo is nearing the end of its usable life. It's a venerable old friend, but 10 years is a long time for any bit of kit (seriously, I bought it in the fall of 2005).
My base requirements:
Laser or optical that can handle shiny surfaces, I prefer not using a mouse pad.
Wireless, I still have small children that are good at destroying things with wires.
Gaming-capable, but not necessarily gaming-specific
Normal function key layout (I don't know if this is A Thing anymore, but I know the MS keyboards regrouped them for a while which drove me nuts)
Decently sized mouse without being overly huge. Most of you have met me, I don't have small hands.
Optional:
Quiet clicky

We have these at work and they're OK:
If you decide to go with Logitech again then the mouse and keyboard often are capable of sharing the same receiver.
I do feel like the M510 mouse might be too small for you. I have it and like it, but borders on too small.

looks a bit bigger.
I have the M510 at work and I love it.
Hmm, the 710 kit looks pretty nice. Not sold on the massive wrist pad on the keyboard, though.
I have always wanted to try this one, so you can buy it so I can live vicariously through you.
Matias makes some wonderful product, they do have a quiet version but it is wired. Where everyone else uses Cherry, they use these old school Alps plunger style keys. Wonderful feel and they look really nice, sophisticated even. I've always wondered how the wireless model performs. Tenkeyless, not sure if you look at that as a plus or not, and it's expensive, but to me a good keyboard like you said can be this ten year or longer investment if you take good care of it. So in my mind you may as well get what I want and tell me all about it.

That looks really nice, but it doesn't fit the budget or have a mouse
But that is what I want, and isn't that what really matters here?
I don't know much about the kit, but it looks intriguing to me.

Looks like about $85 online for the kit.
I like that one. Mouse looks to be a good size. I dig the chiclet style keyboard when it's done well (Macs, etc), too.
Just throwing out there, I had the M510 at $job--; I also have sizeable paws. It was a little toward the small side for me, but still comfortable. FWIW.
I went ahead and ordered the Rapoo kit today. We'll see how it goes.
Arrived today and I think I'm in love. Nice positive motion on the keys, even considering the ultra-thin design and chiclet keys. Mouse is ultra smooth and a great size for my big hands. I just need to get used to not having quite so much keyboard to the left like the Logitech had (lots of media/scroll stuff).
