At least at Heffs place all the technical advisors wear those see through nighty's too. Its taken me 12 years but I think I have Heffs network upgrade all planned and we can start the implementation now anyway.
And that does include the 2 years i was in a coma when I was knocked unconcious planning naked volleyball.
Just been missing your irrepressible charm and wit. Haven't typed to you in a loonngg time. Just wondering how you been recovering and such. Was worried your better half maybe finally put you out of her misery or something
mmoonnin, Yes I am a "Rocket Scientist. Spent 23 years as a Weapons System Test/Integration Engineer on long range nuclear missiles. Some for the Government at White Sands Missile Range, some for Lockheed at the space center, and various other test ranges around the world. Did high speed computer telemetry programing and analysis most of the time which accounts for my liking of these dang old machines. Course when I started fixing them they still used tubes a lot

I always wondered who did that and why. I'd best shut up.
12 years of planning, now onto the 25 years of implementation and 15 years of debugging .. hard life huh? hehe
I could of gotten it done faster shorty but thingys kept getting in the way... And at Heffs place when things get in the way you STOP AND DEAL WITH IT BY GOD.

But you are such a perfectionist, you always like to examine the physical layer of each #node# and confirm compatibilty
I'm really glad to see the old "crew" here. Icrontic has really died down to a dull/quiet place seeming populated by a very "young" crowd. Just wasn't the same without the old "gang" of people who really enjoy the challenge of a problem or the ability to disagree in a civil manner.
I think I will be hanging out here a lot more (at least until Tex gets me a subcontract on that Heff job)
It is good to see someone with real experience come back. You always need idiots like me to ask questions, but without the guys with know how there wouldn't be any answers.
Now don't be a stanger missileman, Tex is strange enough.
Thrax: perhaps you should direct your FU's at someone in particular here as I can't seem to make out who you said f u to and there wasnt too many folks it should of been directed at as most their posts were in jest to begin with bud.
So missileman is a raid expert. When i first saw this thread i kinda wondered what it was doing in storage when it seemed to be better in the pub. Now i know. Glad to have you here m. As i never went to the old place i didn't know who you are and most renunion threads are in the pub. But that doesn't matter now.

It's in storage because he was looking for me and knew where he could find me I guess. I tend to hang in the tech areas mostly especially storage it seems.
A formal introduction for those that have never had the pleasure to converse with Missileman before is perhaps in order here as many of the young'ns here were not around in the old days.....
Missileman worked for a big time Scsi Raid controller manufacturer for a number of years in differant capacities ranging from product testing and developement to only God knows what else. He has probably forgotten more about raid then most of us will ever know.
I vaguely remember that thread ( not really ! ) But welcome back! This is the place to be. Most of the old crew is here but there is alot of new faces here too!
Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I will try live up to Tex's over the top praise.
As Tex said, I did spend about 7 years in SCSI RAID after coming from the defense industry. (Lost my job to a nuclear arms treaty). Don't get me wrong. Reduction in those is always a good thing, but it wasn't really one of MY favorite times.
I tend to be pretty rusty now because I only get to play with established networks and on line hardware so I can't play like I could in the lab.
I think Tex is one of the most technically proficient people I have ever known, which is why I like to keep track of his whereabouts. He is always good for a fresh view to a problem. I don't beleive you'll see us disagree much.
I don't post much cause I get tired of typing "Tex is right" or "I agree with Tex". I guess I will have to get a Thesaurus to try and use different words.
Again - Thanks for the warm "Welcome" and I hope to get to know all of you as time goes on.
Yep, a hearty welcome to ya. I've resisted the urge to move this thread to the pub, on the grounds of exceptional circumstances. But I must point out, if bare breasted women, RAID politics or Tex's jokes start to creep in, it's gone! you hear me? he he.
Once again Missileman, welcome to Short-Media, it will be nice to have some extra knowledge flying round here, save me the trouble of pretending I know what I'm talking about.

So Missileman, are you really a rocket scientist?:)

You are the guy who was bantering with Tex back on that monster 50+ page "16k or 64k RAID-0" thread in the old icrontic.
Damn, that was the first ever thread I ever posted on. Hell, you even replied to me along with Tex.
Good to see ya!

Maybe that will clear things up a bit.

Did a quick look to see where the most posts were and Dropped a note. Didn't even give a thought about it being off topic. So I am sorry for that.
Hopefully I will learn where everything goes shortly
Welcome to S-M, we look forward to benefitting from your expertise! :thumbup
