PRICING: $19.99/yr, $3.99/mo or $34.99/yr for a 7-person (!) family plan

  • 20 NES games (at launch) with first-time-ever online multiplayer (!)
  • Smartphone companion app (?)
  • Online play for multiplayer games (Splatoon, Mario Kart, etc)

  • ChoochChooch K-Pop authority™, Pho King Madison Heights, MI Icrontian

That is not a bad price plan

Yes but requiring the service for cloud saves? That's bullshit. Microsoft, Sony, Steam, GoG, and Origin all provide the service for free.

I think this is a better model vs Virtual Console. There's something fundamentally shitty with the VC idea, where you're "buying a copy" of SMB3 for the 4th time but you still have to buy it a 5th time on the next system. Porting isn't free, and the retail aspect made the necessity of money changing hands feel bad (and scale badly - like, I just wanna play MegaMan 2 once every ~2 years, not drop $10 on it again).

I will 100% buy this for the NES stuff alone. Kinda miffed by the cloud save tie in, but I kind of get it.

Well, crap. I'll probably be getting this.

  • The high cost of cloud storage... #firstworldproblems
