Folding@home Gromacs Core
Version 1.56 (February 2, 2004)

If you want to get the new core just use the following 3 steps.

1. Stop the client.
2. Delete the current core (FahCore_78.exe) from the client folder.
3. Restart the client.

I highly recommend this core if you are using version 4.0 or higher F@H client.

Check to make sure the v1.56 core has loaded by opening the FAHlog.txt and look for the final instance in which the client was loaded and you should see this probably towards the end of the file:

Highly recommended core update, it fixed a LOT of my AMD SSE problems. (Still got one fubar but its probably a PSU / mobo issue).

I've been running the 1.56 core on my rigs since Friday morning with no problems at all and now, no lockups at all!:rockon:

Well I've just wiped and reinstalled my pc.

Just downloaded from stanford. And I have FahCore_65.exe and Folding@Home Client Core Version 2.47 (June 14, 2002)

Strikes me as being a little old.

    Any Ideas whats going on?

They gave you a Tinker WU, most likely because with a newly-wiped drive there is no machine "history". In other words, they started you off with a simple WU.

The Gromacs (more complex) are the ones that use the 78 core. It will be downloaded automatically when you are assigned a Gromac WU.

No new tinker core has been released in awhile. Lammypie if you have SSE on that CPU make sure you are getting gromacs with the -advmethods switch.

even if you didn't have sse wouldn't it still be worth while to still run the -advmethods flag w/ 3Dnow?

no doubt. Have a tbird 1.4 and xp 1800+ and same protein xp is using sse and it is doing frame in half the time. there is a 140mhz difference to consider also. so it's only 90% faster if megahurts were the same
