D3DERR_INVALIDCALL when running BM
I have been trying to help a guy here.
He has a problem and he/we can't get it solved.
He has asked advice on the Futuremark forums.
Here's his question.
Configuration:
- Intel Pentium4 2,6 GHz 800 FSB
- Abit IC7-G Max2
- Sapphire Radeon 9500 Pro
- Creat!ve Soundblaster Audio PCI128
- 512 MB DDR Kingston HyperX PC3500
- 40 GB IBM DeskStar 60GXP
- 120 GB Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 (8 MB Cache)
- Samsung SyncMaster 959NF 19"
- Thermal Take Silent PurePower 420 W
- Windows XP Professional SP1a
Let me sum up what we have tried.
AV scan.
Different drivers (4.2, 4.1, 3.10 maybe more)
Dunno if he has tried a memtest, I have recommended it though.
Format C: and reinstall.
I am 99% sure it is software related.

D3DERR_INVALIDCALL when running BM
Hey!
When I try to run a Benchmark using 3DMark2001 SE, I get an error.
D3DERR_INVALIDCALL
It also says something about downgrading display blabla...
Well, when I ran the benchmark the 1. time, it worked out fine, and I got a score. But the second time, it gave me the error, after just a few seconds.
When I try reinstalling DirectX 9.0b, I get the error, after the first test (w. the car)
I also get a likewise error, when running 3DMark 2003.
My Specs:
Intel P4 2,6 GHz
512 DDR Kingston HyperX (3500)
Sapphire Radeon 9500 PRO 128 MB (Newest drivers)

I am changing the headline to something more suitable.
I had the same problem after upgrading to an P4 based system after coming from an Athlon. It took me a LONG time to diagnose. The problem was rage3dtweak refresh override utility which was loaded into the background. After killing that process 3D ran flawless. The permanent fix was to uninstall rage3dtweak totally. My system has been perfect ever since.
I'm now using ati's built in refresh overide to control refresh rates in games. You can find it in Advanced Display properties under the Displays tab, then click on Monitor.
