this board claims to be able to handle a 3.06ghz cpu...is that true?? can i buy a 3.06ghz chip and just run it with a 533mhz fsb and itll be all good on that motherboard?

    That should be fine. A board's ability to support a chip at XXGhz is really a nothing statment (it is not very important and for the most part, not true.) The chip's clock speed basically runs independent of the motherboard, so you should be able to run a chip at 134134Ghz and the board would work. The problem is when you start getting new cores, FSB speeds, and voltages.
