I know absolutely nothing about gaming PCs or the parts that it takes to build one, but my dear ol’ little brother has been wanting one for quite sometime. So, Icrontians, I implore you for your help; what’s a good starter/intermediate PC set up?
Assuming you want to play games in 1080p which I think is still perfectly fine, you get a decent enough gaming monitor with a high refresh rate and freesync, a Radeon 5500XT and a system with some kind of Ryzen CPU, the 3600 is usually the sweet spot for reasonably priced but solid gaming performance. Something like this - https://www.microcenter.com/product/631691/powerspec-g164-gaming-computer
That will get you in the pocket of really solid 1080p gaming without spending a fortune on a PC gaming beginner.

You might check out Anandtech.com, they review a lot of hardware and will give you a good idea of the price/performance trade offs.
