Do I need to reinstall F@H?

Whilst Sally is busy with Ghost, i am trying to sort out my F@H.

There is a lot of info on SSE. I have tried to modify my properties to add "-advmethods, -forsesse". Problem is i cannot locate the properties.

I originally downloaded the screensaver version, not knowing anything about folding. There is nothing in the taskbar or program files to click and modify.
Have i got the wrong version to do what i want?

If so, can i download a different version over the existing one, or uninstall and reinstall new one??

I have a P4 2.4gig notebook with 512 ram.

Once i get this one running better (for faster folding) i can then set up the others. Sally's will be a bit different again as she has HT and will be able to run 2 consoles. Sort that later.

Also, is there a minimum reuirement to run SSE, as our old HP is only a 850 Athlon and does this need different parameters. The HP and the other (old) desktop run without a screensaver, but have one of these :fold: in the taskbar.

Download the console version. Been yrs since I've used any other version so I don't know how the file structure is. Create a short-cut of the console exe, right click and properties and where it says "Target" add the switches after "...\FAH4Console.exe". If you're in the middle of a wu, just wait till it finishes and delete and start with the console version.

If you done like the console since it runs in your taskbar at the bottom, you can try trayit and that will move it to the system tray. Or you can get the GUI which also runs in the system tray. For the GUI there will be a shortcut in the Startup folder where you can add the advmethods and forcesse.

DragonV8, if you want to run the console version, which most everyone here does, just download the console client from Stanford and install it in the folder of your choice. I name mine Folding1, Folding2, etc. Then make a shortcut from the console client and put it on the desktop and then right click it and select properties. You will see a line labeled Target and you'll see where the shortcut points to. After the last of the entries in the target, put a space then the following "-advmethods -forceasm -verbosity 9" without the quotes. Use this to start the client up.

Now the console client will stay running on the taskbar which I find is a pain, so I use an app called TrayIt to put the console client in the system tray instead. It's pretty self explanatory on how to set it up. You also just unzip it's files into the folder of your choice and then run the exe file. I'm attaching a pic of the options of TrayIt so you can see that you check all the options, then you go select the folding client and right click on it to bring up an menu to put the client into the system tray.

To automatically start the console client I just copy my desktop shortcut into the startup folder of windows.

Good stuff there guys. That will keep me amused setting up for awhile. Thanks for the screenshots, makes life a lot easier.

In anticipation of getting to Sally's new computer, before i fly out on monday morning, i am also gathering information on "how to set up 2 consoles" on one machine.

I know we need to have 2 copies, but it is the way it is done that i'm not sure of.

Should i run out of time, we'll run 1 till i get home for my next brake. Sally is heavily learning about Ghost and Advanced Bios. I think the Adv Bios is what she wants to update next. Then ghost the disk, swap a few HDD's, put the cover back on and that is it.

At the shop where we bought our 2 new Sata drives, there was a demo case, simular to hers. Clear side and had a blue light like hers too. What she did not have was the Red sound activated light. She does now. Just need to hook it up.
Starting to look "as flash as a rat with a gold tooth".

    Thanks again guys
