ABIT KD7A VIA AC97 Recording Problem

edited February 2004 in Hardware
I am using Window's XP Pro

I can't get my Microphone to work.

When I open the sound control, I can't get the recording volume to be active. It is grayed out and inactive. I can move all the other volume sliders, just not the master slider.

I have been to VIA's site and updated to the latest drivers, I have tested my mic on another pc and it works, I have unistalled and reinstalled drivers.

Quadraphonic sound is working fine.

When I go to the control panel and select Sound and Audio Devices, the Advanced tab is inactive on the recording settings.

Hmm, I put that board in my girlfriends rig last year. Though... admittedly she doesn't use the onboard sound. My first thought is that you've got the software side of things not setup quite right. Is there a digital out on that sound unit, to get the mic to work, you may need the global sound settings to be set to analogue.

I'm just grabbing at straws here though. I'll try and look into for you.
