don't mean to come off condescending, sorry if that's what it sounds like. but seriously, i mean if they're just shares on windows machines, then my network places (the former "network neighborhood") works fine. but i'm not sure if you're talking about SMB protocol or another protocol.
no, the problem being that "my network places" isn't that efficient at identifying which are password protected. Nor is it very good at searching a campus network with 1000+ computers.
