ctrl-alt-del not working?

I hopped on my brothers computer while home for spring break. I did a symantec scan, which found 12 "viruses". A subsequent AVG scan found 7 more...I know I need to do a reinstall, but until then, ctrl-alt-del does not bring up the process manager, and I can't figure out why. Any ideas?

Check to see if X:\windows\system32\taskmgr.exe still exists, if not it may have been eaten by the virii.

You could also try booting in safe mode and running another virus scan. There are lots of viruses (MyDoom is one that comes to mind) which disable Task Manager, msconfig, etc to make it harder to unload them from memory.
