Hello fellow Short Medians!

Found this site through a MS guru friend of mine. Used the tips to optimize my new Dell 1.7 8600 w/9600 Pro Turbo. It sped things up for both work related & gaming related processes.

Main site: http://www.blackviper.com/

Win XP page: http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

NOTE:Make sure you do a RUN, "services.msc" not "msconfig"!

Hope this comes in handy!

The Scree Savers on TechTV had the black viper guy on for a piece about turning off windows services, I think about a year ago. I believe he did a lot of trial and error testing, looking to see what each service broke or how it limited the use of windows when turned off.

    It's a valuable gem, I agree.

Agreed. Quite good, even teh extreme tweaks work on my XP Pro systems.

However, there is a very fast way to get to the management console, without running anything in Run:

Open Start menu (Click on Start button in taskbar).
    Right click My Computer.
    Click the Manage option.
