Abit attacks Asus QC

"By addressing the problem early, ABIT was able to make direct and immediate changes. The result has ensured ABIT users have been provided with motherboards with only Japanese capacitors and problem-free use," said Scott Thirlwell, Marketing Director of ABIT Computer.

Apparently other motherboard makers did not acknowledge the capacitor problem and made no changes. The result has been recent problems with exploding capacitors. Most recently, some IT media have questioned the quality of ASUS motherboards. Even ASUS admitted that some of their recent AMD motherboards have a problem with capacitors expanding and fracturing.

"It has been discovered recently that the nine electrolytic capacitors CE18, CE19, CE20, CE21, CE22, CE25 , CE38, CE39, CE45 (see Figure1, used at power stabilization circuitry) may expand and fracture."
"Has ASUSTEK'S gradual shift of focus to the more lucrative notebooks business been at the expense of quality control in other areas?"

    So what does this mean, other than the obvious?

    Well it means that Asus, according to Abit and other tech sites, is using crappy caps. on their motherboards.
    Maybe Asus haven't learned their lesson from the last cap. death.
    It seems that Asus goes for the cheapest caps.

    I am not saying that Asus is the only company doing this.

    And of course it means that an Asus board may still die because of cheap dying caps.
