I installed the driver and the software for this feature, does the program have to be running for C&Q to work? Or is the driver what makes it work in the background?

Idunno but what does it actually do ...does it send less voltage to the fan headers or something?

Well I have a 2GHz Athlon 3000+ It is currently running 800MHz at a CPU Voltage of 1.2750 Volts ;) It seems to throttle the CPU pretty damned well when it isn't in need of anything more than 800MHz.

No slowdowns noticed yet, same 3D Mark scores... nifty. But I don't know if I need to keep the monitoring program installed or not.

Voltage and sense feedback for feedback-capable fans, versus temps. Balancer app, like Abit EQ-- which I have running on an IC7-Max3.

I THINK (about 89% sure) you need the app running, driver talks to BIOS and motherboard environmental chip and thermal circuits-- but the app does the controlling I would bet. I have friends with Asus boards that use that and they use the app.

Try with app and without to be sure.

does the driver install itself as a service? If so you should be able to find it in taskmanager and see it running...turn off the monitoring software and see if the driver is still alive.

so when you terminate the monitor does it still show 801.2mhz?

Yeah, it shows 800MHz without the monitor. I hadn't even thought of doing that before :P
