Bios update data incorrect

Upon bootup, it says "bios update data incorrect CPUID 00000652".

The motherboard says AsusTek P2L97, Rev. 2.04

The first thing I see at boot up is:
Asus P2L97 ACPI B105... Rev 1001

What do I need to do?

Did you just update the bios? If so, try setting the bios to "bios defaults" - make sure you write down all of the previous settings so you can change them back!

The latest bios for that board is 1009. You can get it here. If you've never updated a bios before you might want to ask for help. Just let us know.

No, I haven't done anything to it yet, just cleaned the hd and put on os and saw the bios notice. I've downloaded 1009 per your suggestion and would like help to make sure I do this properly. Thank you so very much.

    To flash the bios:

First: Write down ALL of your current bios settings - if the new bios changes them you may need to change them back!

    1) Download the aflash221.zip file. (It's on the same page as the bios)
    2) Make a bootable floppy disk (See below)
    3) Copy the new bios and the unzipped aflash utility to your new bootable floppy, write down the name of the ".exe" file in the aflash folder and the exact name of the new bios file you downladed
    4) Boot up from the floppy you just made (make sure "A:" is selected in the bios as the first boot device.
    5) Run the aflash utility (I think it's aflash.exe) and follow the directions to update the bios
    6) When it asks what bios do you want to upgrade to, pick the one you just downloaded which is now on the floppy disk
    7) Reboot when it tells you to.

Make sure you don't power off the computer or hit the reset button while the bios is updating!

    To make a bootable floppy:

    1) Insert a floppy disk in the drive; make sure the write-protect tab is off
    2) Open Windows Explorer
    3) Right-Click on the A: drive, left click on "format"
    4) Make sure you have a check mark where I indicated in red in the picture.

In attempting to make the boot disk---I'm using Windows ME---I don't get the same screen. I don't have an option to request dos and I don't get to choose Fat as my file system. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

Look for a box which says "Copy System Files" and checkmark it.

While I'm at it, did this problem just suddenly start? Did you change anything just before it occurred?

My options are only "Capacity", Quick (erase) and Full
Under "Other Options", I have a choice of a Label and Display summary when finished.

No problems on this computer. Just cleaned HD and put OS on.

You can download a boot disk maker for WinME here. Look about halfway down - where it says "Here is a WinME Startup Disk image".

WinME likes to do everything the hard way...
