Ok I know this laptop is a few years past it's prime, but it's still pretty good. Has anyone experianced of heard of this model having charging problems. I replaced to battery, and still does not charge, well it charged because I can read the voltage from the battery and it reads 11.2v I even drained the battery and then stuck it in and charged it over night, and it read 11.2 v. My last hope is the board the battery connects to. I have a replacement on the way, but if that doesn't work I'm looking for some insite. any ideas

I can't stop laughing at your avatar. Forget your laptop. Just stare at your avatar and forget all your troubles.

Idea... When you charge a new cell, charge times three. even IBM laptops you get to do this, the battery when new will NOT take a deep charge with first charge cycle. Also, see if the silly thing has an overheat reset button, sometimes new cells trip the overheat and never get up to the amperage at 12 volts that they should get to ion first or first and second charge cycle. New batteries, typically 6-8 hours, power off for an hour to three with computer off (to let battery dump a heat load), charge again, repeat whole part about powering off again, charge once more. This activates battery and lets it take deep charges that get you amperage flow you need to run the computer to spec wattage flow it needs to run right. I know it is not an IBM, but this is typical of Lith or NIMH cells that are sold most often for replacements.

Cliff's Notes: Charge, cool-off, charge, cool-off, charge. THEN use.

Friend of mine has one of those and it was doing the same thing. It wouldn't charge and I noticed it wasn't indicating line power under WinXP. If she wiggled the power plug where it went into the back you could get it to make contact and indicate charging. That worked for another couple of months, but then she had to take it and have it repaired as you could never get it to make contact anymore. I guess she had sat it against the power connector one too many times.
