My Situation:
I currently have a AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 333fsb and i have good temperatures (38 idle 43 load). I am running it overclocked right now 12x200 @ 1.76v. I cannot seem to get it to run at 12.5x200, i have tried voltages up to 1.85 and windows could load to desktop but applications could not be opened without getting a blue screen. I am hesitant about changing voltage to 1.9 from 1.75 just to get another 100mhz out of my processor.

My question is:
Should i return my 3000+ barton and buy a 2500/2600 mobile processor. If i go with this route i can save money and buy more cooling for my shuttle while getting higher mhz then my current processor.

please post your comments on this
thanks

I don't see why not. I mean, those mobile chips are great, they're unlocked, hand picked and guaranteed to overclock great.

    can it do 11x220@1.80v?

It's still just luck of the draw on how well even the mobiles overclock. I have 2-2400m and 1-2600m and the 2-2400's both will overclock to where your present 3000 is at. My 2600m is at almost 2600 MHz at 1.875v vcore; it's right about to it's limit. It overclocked real easily to 2500 MHz though.

I really don't think the extra 100MHz you might be able to get out of a XP-m is worth the hassle, but if you deem it necessary well then go for it.

can i get the XP-m high as 2.8/2.9 on with my cooling specs?

also is it necessary to raise my memory voltages when raising the FSB? Many people who have my shuttle mother board have had their motherboards die when changing the memory voltage

Very unlikely. Even if you had LN2 cooling I think 2.9 would be very difficult to reach.

    Hi..
From what I've seen most 2600's will clock out to 2600 Mhz, a small percentage to 2700-2800. I think with a good air cooler 2600 is very possible.
