nf7s and USB.

I believe there are some problems with the nf7s and USB. I had to install a PCI/USB adapter last night to get my game pad working. Today my Iiyama hub isn't working. It's detected in device manager, if I unplug it and plug it back in the PC beeps and it dissapears and reappears in device manager. If I uninstall it and reboot it's redetected and installed. Nothing plugged into it works even if I connect it to the PCI/USB card. Is the hub knackered or is this another nf7s quirk and what do I do about it if it is?

I have a USB card reader plugged into the USB port on my NF7-S v2 and it works fine. Win98SE is my O/S.

is it a powered hub? (has its own plug into the wall.) or is it being powered by the usb port?

    Cheers Gobbles,
It's not a powered hub, unless it gets its power from the monitor. It's built into the base of my iiyama vision master pro. I had the mx700 and a printer plugged into it, neither works. I unplugged the hub and plugged the mouse in the same port and it works fine. The hub and the things plugged into it worked ok last night so I don't know what happened. It seems a bit coincidental that this happens a few days into a new motherboard and after I hear about USB troubles with the nf7s.
What exactly are the drivers you posted? Are they newer ones than is on the disc that came with the board?

the drivers are USB 2.0 drivers for windows XP. Those are more for people doing a usb2.0 drivers issue search of the forums.

As for your issue, it sounds like the hub is not getting enough power or is dead. I would just get a decent replacement. The hubs they use when building in like that are notoriously cheap. I would go buy something like this...

However as this board (nf7) has 4 usb ports kinda dont need one.

Might want to check on the Monitor manufacturer's website and see if they have any drivers for it.

You've got SP1 installed right, and the lastest nForce driver pack on there right? (v3.13). If like you said you are just using the nForce drivers that came on your motherboards CD, I suggest you upgrade. You can get them direct from Nvidia, or from the Short-Media downloads section.

Also make sure you have the latest BIOS flashed. 22 is the latest for your board.

Do all that if you haven't already and then see how you go. At least then we'll know it's not a driver problem. I've never had any problems with USB on my NF7-S.

The other guys suggestions are great. I would add to them: Boot up in Safe Mode and delete everything under the Universal Serial Bus controllers category. Windows often sees phantom devices (usually the same device listed twice). This will force Windows to have another look at what is really there.

Great suggestions guys. I will do all of them but it'll take me a few days. I've a very busy time ahead but I'm off work for two weeks and have loads of time from Wednesday. As I now have mouse and game pad working, what time I get on the PC will be game related. (recreation)
    I'll keep you posted.
    Thanks.
