Online Services File Suit Over Spam Claims

AOL, EarthLink, Microsoft and Yahoo on Wednesday announced what they say are the first industry lawsuits against spammers since the federal CAN-SPAM Act took effect in January.

[blockquote]The group filed six suits in four federal courts "targeting hundreds of the most notorious spammers on the Internet," said AOL spokesman Nicholas Graham, in a conference call.[/blockquote]

    That's great. I've already noticed a drop in spam since that new legislation went through.. and i'm in Canada! According to some, spam accounts for upwards of 50% of internet traffic, imagine how much more bandwidth we'd have available if we cut spam 50-75%.

    I've also noticed a large drop in my spam, although there's one company in BC that keeps having emails sent on their behalf. I use mailwasher pro to bounce the emails back, but they keep using fake return addresses, so there's nothing to bounce to.
    Anyone in BC want to go kick some ass for me?

    One of the most prolific spamsters on earth lives a few miles away from me :mad: .. He just had a $7 million home built for himself. I hope they nail that guy good. I hope they sue his ass off.

    If he gets sued, and he loses, I'll be sure to drive to West Bloomfield and take pictures of his house with the "for sale" sign in front of it. :Pwned:
