Another Catalyst Monitor Issue?

I have a 9800np with the 4.1 drivers. About 4-5 weeks ago I got a Dell UltraSharp 2001FP LCD monitor. Evey now and then, I'd turn the machine on and about the time in that boot when the monitor should start to display something, it just sat there in what looked like a standby mode. Nothing except turning the machine off would work and, on reboot, everything was fine. It happened so randomly and infrequently that I would kinda forget about it between occurrences.

...until I came across this thread at Rage3D http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33735849 . While its always difficult to separate the relevent from the irrelevent from the absolute B.S. in any Rage3D thread, it seems that some LCD monitors with systems that have 9600 and 9800 cards (there may be others) with the 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 drivers (and they may go back further than that) exhibit this behavior. Some temporary "fixes" that some posters said would work for a while were using the analog connection instead of the DVI (a criminal act on a monitor like mine) and connecting it with both the analog and the DVI (if this works, you know something's gotta be wrong). Somewhere in about the 10th page of the thread, CatalystCatcher, who I think is an ATi employee, said that ATi was aware of the problem but could duplicate it only randomly and was working on it.

I love my new monitor and its performance is certainly worth more than a few fps...even more than the 9800np. Dare I admit that the word "nVidia" has crossed my mind?

Just thought I'd give everyone a "heads up" on this.
