The website says its not possible...but I figured someone around here tried, and more than likely got it to work anyway....am I going to run into problems?

I saw that too and thought WTF. I've read reviews of it using that mobo so i can't understand why it says so.

if you notice the mounting pics on the site and my pic ...the difference is the direction of the fins ...my fins hang right over the nb ...which I consider an advantage because I changed my nb hsf out for the passive zmnb47j. I reversed the fan which draws air thru the nb thru the fins thru a duct to the top blowhole of my lian li pc6085b. Use an 80mm fan for greatest efficiency.
I can post more pics of that if you like ...I love the ductmod.

Which orientation do you have your ZMNB47J, csimon? I'm going to have a very similar setup on my secondary rig so I'm quite interested in seeing how you got yours done.

I don't have the pics here at work but if you observe the shortest fins on the zmnb47j then you just put that end next to the slk-947u. Just like if you were to take it out of this pic and paste it into the slk pic above only you move the mounting brackets appropriately ...

Thanks. Also, did you put the Zalman on there for superior cooling, or to get rid of an active fan on the NB? Do you think it does provide superior, or at least equal, cooling to the stock NF7-S cooler?

I think it's at least equal provided you have good air flow ...it really helps to lap it also (which I haven't done yet) because it is anodized on bottom just like the rest of the sink!

Thanks for the info, csimon. I'm no good at lapping, so I'll probably have to leave the anodized bottom. I'll have decent airflow, though - 3x80MM in and 3x80MM out, with a 53 CFM Mechatronics on the HS.

no problem ...only lapping is very easy once you buy the sanpaper. 3 different grits of wet sanding paper (can't recall the grits off hand) from fine - finest over a flat surface such as plate glass will do the trick. you should be ok though. Good luck!

this is the best pic I have for now. Just keep in mind that if you keep the 2 lowest rows nearest the SLK you shouldn't have any trouble ...also if you haven't mounted the SLK yet give it a test fit lining up the mounting holes to see which way will allow more room for the zmnb47j. I removed my SLK this weekend and when I put it back I had a slight amount more room than what you see in this pic ...errr ...if you could really tell!
Sorry about the mess of wires. :wtf:

Cool - the SLK will be arriving in the next day or so, and then I'm off to assembly! Thanks for all the tips, csimon.
