EOC Stats v2 partially functional

Teams are listed. Daily/Weekly/Total points are given.

However, the individual stats pages are not working yet, but the main page says the other pages shouldn't be too far along.

We might not have threats lists right now (hahaha! told ya that I'd get you off my threats list by hook or by crook, KingFish!) or conquest lists, but at least we have some stats again!

The new style is easier on the eyes, that's for sure. I hate dark themes, and red letters are hard for me to read.

I like the look of the old stats better. Oh well, I applaud the effort nonetheless.

I'm with you. On the other hand, I rarely like changes at first. Maybe the new look will grow on me.

I liked that when you hover a particular field that percentage of total stats popped up with the old system. Maybe it'll be included but not functional yet. I liked the dark background too. This kinda looks like folding at work site.

The old "look" may have been a bit nicer, but the dark background just didn't do it for me and the red lettering was nearly impossible for me to read. I normally had to highlight the text to see it.

I don't see why Jason would remove the hovering stats.

Honestly, I would have been happy with the old stats and 2 additions/modifications to it.

    1. Themes. (So that I could get rid of the dark background and red lettering.)
    2. Transparent/Background updating.

The new stats doesn't seem to have themes (maybe it does, though, if you're logged into EOC), but it does have the transparents/background updates, which is nice. How many times did the stats take a couple of hours to bring up the new totals and so nothing could be pulled up?

I bet thats not done yet. Still a lot to be added he said. Well at least told to work, its programmed and everything mostly.

He added an overall user stats page link on the left.

I like red (both of my trucks are red . . . wouldn't have it any other way), but certain shades or hues give me problems. I'm color blind. The shade/hue used by EOC was extremely difficult for me to see.

As for the dark background, that one actually does go to "I don't like it" rather than "it's hard to read." Though light backgrounds do seem easier on my eyes for some reason, so that might be why I like them more.

Hes not done yet with the coloring either. I liked it as well.

I'm with you Baron. I liked the old theme better. I hope he makes it to where the individual user can tweak the themes but I'm not going to be one that gripes and complains about an excellent service for free. It makes one wonder, do we have the talent here to throw up a stats site? I can tell you I don't have the talent as I'm no programmer. I despise it as I'm definitely a hardware type of person. It would be a great recruiting tool too. Just a thought if someone here would be interested that has the time.

Way over my head guys - What Jason is doing isn't costing me very much money! When I learn how to do more than he is doing we will have a perfect world. :mean: Dang - His individual stats dropped me from the top users - I finally went over 100,000 and made #501 and it isn't listed. Ok!! I liked the old stats better - I miss the threats list :rarr: and I want it back yesterday or sooner  Jack

He doesnt have all the stats in the database yet. It will take awhile for the weeklies to build up again.

He isnt done yet guys. Give the guy some time. And trust me, there will be more than v1.

I'm going to start with this reply point but this is a thread reply. Production colors do not work in Opera, FireFox, Safari, or Mozilla. They DO work in IE 6, for those of you who are not seeing colors. Part of this info is from the EOC forum thread about the new stats.

Note, he said user production stats will be more accurate after a week from yesterday, the weekiles need a 7 day base and that is being built up by accumulating stats. So, after the base is stable, expect to see threats and conquerings more accurately. At a guess, the threat\conquer tables are 4-6 days from being stably built, Jason might wait until then to activate them by linking them in from the side menu.

But, I like the look in IE so far, myself.

I'd attempt to write stats if need be, but there really doesn't seem to be a need.

Well, you've forced my hand :p I just started discussion with the staff last Thursday about a total recode of the milestone/sig system since the current system has a series of bandaids from the multiple server moves that the teamicrontic site went through. At one point, support reverted from PHP4 to PHP3 with no database support, so lsevald had to completely hack how the system stored stats and a bunch of other changes. lsevald doesn't have time to rewrite the system (as he very much would like to do I'm sure :) ) so I've decided to take a stab at it with his advice.

I figured while I was making a new system that'll be storing the stats anyway, I might as well expand the functionality a little and incorporate a Short-Media-specific stats site. I have some fun ideas for it :) It'll be a long-term project though, which is why I didn't really intend to say anything about it for a while. If anyone has ideas they'd like to contribute, my PM box is always open.

He also got a hint from another user on what was broken in his CSS, coloring now works in Opera.... It's coming back togetheer, and neat to see it structure-morph on the fly.... :D

John D-- who has been in Fort Mudge helping Mom pick out and negotiate for a new 2004 Toyota Camry LE, then fighting with its ubiquitious "security" system that lets mom open driver door, unlock all doors with fob, then when I open passenger door it goes into alarm trigger mode.... We got it 6 hours ago, so far six times it has done this.... Mom said something about needing to read the car manual.... Just a chuckler at what new tech hands us sometimes (puzzles).... :D

    More updates from Jason:

"Finally got the Team Summary page up, I'm not 100% sure I like the layout though. There are a couple things different from the previous version of the stats.

    1. There are two graphs for history (instead of one), one is in Days, the other is in Hours.
    2. Future Production graph is on the overtake page (I'm sure you noticed already).
    3. "Current Team Info" has extra calculated fields. I'm not sure if I will keep them all. The new ones are:
    - Points Last 24hr - 24 hours from the current update.
    - Points Last 7d - 7 days from the current update.
    - Points Last Week - Points from previous week (Sun-Sat), (obviously it won't change during the week).

I'm not 100% sure if the above mentioned numbers really make sense or not... let me know what you guys think.

    4. "Last 10 Days Production" is just a daily total of Points & WUs, nothing new there. The current day increases with each update.
    5. "Last 24 Hours Production" is pretty self explanatory too.
    6. "New Users In Past 7 Days", this might be off because I accidently did some updates that threw off some people's join date. Basically it's just the day when these stats first start recording individual user data.
    7. "Top 15 Producers" - This is calculated based on the 24hr Avg. As you can see, the top 15 producers are not necessairly the top 15 ranked people on the team.
    8. "User Milestones" - Currently this only goes up to 200k points. I'm thinking I might make a "hall of fame" page for each team, but I'm not sure how I want to work that.

Anyhow, the individual summary page should be up within a couple days since I can re-use a lot of the code. It will just depend on how much free time I have.

As always, your feedback & constructive comments are welcome, just send me an email (via the contact us page), or you can post it in this thread that is an ongoing disussion of the new stats. I still need to dig up some of those old threads from before when I was asking people for suggestions, just to make sure I'm not overlooking something major.

Yes, I'm still probably going to adjust the colors some. Just haven't gotten around to it.

    Jason"

So there are graphs now as well as the tables on the left.

I dont particully care for that its built for 1280*1024 and up. Nothing lower works well at all. I mean its horrible.

I like the past week stats. I dont care for the average daily stats and how much done this week.

mmonnin - I changed the layout around yesterday, so now it should work with 1024x768 resolutions.

Also, just FYI, there are individual summary pages and all that good stuff... I think that is what was missed the most from everyone.

    Great work, Jason.

I still miss the small conquests/threats list to see those conquests/threats that are nearest to happening, but scrolling up/down the page to see the conquests/threats and then placing them in order mentally isn't bad . . . at least it lets us see more conquests/threats that way.

Jason, your new version ROCKS. I like the interface even.... It works well with almost any browser width or mode in Opera 7.23 (I have run it wider than 1024 pizels, stable). Nicely done coding!!!

Yeah, I'm still kinda thinking about the overtake page and about listing top 5 or 10 conquests / threats on the summary pages (like before). The problem is I really don't want to list that data on more than one page because of how much power it consumes to generate that data. Ya never know what I will do though. Hehe... Some days I feel like programming, some days I don't.

Ahh too late, I am already getting used to 1280*1024.:)

Well since you are here, do you have code where you could stick in the past 7 days worth of points. I guess I like to see how much I have been doing. It looks like there is enough room for another column, at least at 1280.;)

Dont know how everything works but could it be as easy as the Points 24hr Avg column stat*7 and that would get the past 7 days. Looking better and better.:)
  • edited March 2004
I already have the last 7 days displayed on the summary page, though it might be a few points off from the true amount since I just took the 24hr avg * 7 (like you mentioned). The 24hr avg is the last 7 days total divided by 7 then rounded to a whole number.

The reason I don't display the last 7 days on the big table with all the teams is because that number is really just redudant from the 24hr avg, and also I don't want to display too many columns, but also most people (like me) think X computers does X points per day... not per week.

Once data builds up longer, I'm planning on adding one or two more tables on the summary pages to show longer term production history (either by week and/or *maybe* month).
