Sound quality on NF7?

Does the Abit NF7 motherboard have good sound quality from its on board sound system? I know it has about 5 jacks for a multi speaker sound system, but my 2 speakers run out of the green jack only.

But number of speakers aside, I was wondering if the MB can provide good sound quality or should you install a PCI sound card for the best quality?

The NF7 does sound better than my old Dell 2100 system, running on the same pair of Harman Kardon speakers.

Sound quality is only as good as your ears. Play some music on the system and see how well you like it. If it feels empty or doesn't have the "oomph" then try a PCI sound card.

I've never used my NF7 sound so I have no idea how good it is or isn't.
My NF7-S (has SoundStorm, which is supposed to be very nice) is hooked up to crappy speakers so I wouldn't know how well it can sound compared to the NF7.

It sounds ok if you want to play games and stuff or just listen mp3's but don't expect any hardware accleration and stuff like EAX which really help a gaming expierence.

To put it short and sweet, the NF7 sound is subjective to your ears and needs while the NF7-S (w/Soundstorm) is awesome.

Its equal to a SB Audigy 1 easily (on a decent speaker setup) and a little worse than an Audigy 2. Unless you're a super-audiophile or have a sweet speaker system ($300+) then it'll do you just fine. As A2j suggested, you can always just test it out and grab something else if its not enough umpphh for you :). I highly doubt you'd be able to tell the difference between the soundstorm and an Audigy 2 on two HK speakers.

Did you get the NF7 or NF7-s, my comments only apply to the NF7-s as the other doesn't have soundstorm iirc.

    qparadox: He has a NF7, not a NF7-S. NF7 = MCP (no soundstorm).
