Can't install winxp
First of all, here is the spec
VGA ATI|RADEON 9800XT 256M 8X
MB MSI|VIA K8T800 K8T NEO-FIS2R RTL

SLK-948U HSINK ONLY
CPU AMD 64 |3000+ ATHLON 64 %
CORSAIR DDRAM 512MB64MX64PC-3200LLPT COR RT
i helped my friend build this comp, and after putting all the hardwares into the case and get everything connected, we tried installing windowsxp
loaded default bios setting, booted with xp cd and went to set up the partitions and format, and then it copied some files, and then restart.
after restart and loading windows, it started the install process, and then i will show an error after 2 minutes into the process
the errors says fatal error, setup can not copy product catalog or something.
same error occured at the same place with different CD.
Tested the ram with memtest, and it passed.
what's the problem??

EDIT/
of course it's CPU temp.
Sounds like faulty install-media. Seeing as how it's a new system (hopefully it's not hardware related,) chances are that the Xp cd is dead. Have you tried making backup copies of the cd, and using those instead?
edit: Duh; scratch that. I forgot to read the last bit about different cds.
I have a cd that will not install off of one of me drives (of course I try five times before I remember).
Old slow drives are more forgiving.

Um, check the XP Install CD for scratches on it, fingerprints, etc. Do not know how many times I had to clean dust off a CD, or fingerprints. Retry can be reading or writing. distilled water spritzed on it, then a gentle wipe from center out to edge (not in a circle round the CD) for each part of CD with a soft and dry cloth. Also, every once in a while, had to clean the dang drive laser lense with a Laser Lense Cleaning CD (Maxell Laser Lense cleaning CD is my favorite for this).
Yes, it could be HD also, but lets do the cheap and easy things first....

From my experience, it's related to either A) bad RAM; or
B) an incompatibility/pickiness of the motherboard for the RAM.
The common symptom is: while installing WinXP, it gives you a
file error while trying to install it, usually a .dll .
If what you just did work - then more power to you. But if weird
things start to happen (reboot while running media player, app
hangs, etc) - then you might want to test out another stick of
RAM. In 6 out of 6 of the systems, this was the cure.
Good luck!
