i have two boxes that i need to control, but the only thing that they'd be sharing is a monitor. One computer is my main workstation, and the other is just a little linux server box (will be shortly rather). would taking the easy (read: cheap) way out with the below physical rotary crap switch be alright? has anyone used it also?

Or should i go and get a good one from a repuatable company that i could use in the future, such as a nice USB 4 port switch?

I've used that exact model & it's very good for what it is. I also believe, if memory serves me right, that Shorty did a review of the very similar Linksys model back in the Icrontic days.

Look at ebay for these things. Aranyic and I got a 4 port with all the cables for $25 each. Resolution isnt great at all but its what I run at. It says it doesnt support wheel mice or mice with more than 2 buttons but it works as long as it has power before its switched.
