i just bought a nf7-s and installed windows. When i do a update it says I need to update sata driver but when i update it it says it failed. there is a question mark in devive manager for it too. also when i try to use the floppy that came with it for the sata driver it doesnt work. Also right now my only drive is a sata drive. any clues why its not working?

it won't work bud ...the windowsupdate version of the SI SATA drivers won't install ...there is another thread about that somewhere. Just reboot and let windows find the drivers on it's own. If you have the 40's driver installed you have the latest. I don't think anyone at all has been able to get the 47 driver installed at all so maybe just leave it be for the time being.

check out this thread NEW Silicon Image 3x12 SATA RAID driver on Windows Update?! in the bios and drivers forum.

    sorry for the worry.

I think the other thread about this is mine. I had the exact same thing. I ended up fixing it thus (it took a couple of tries) Uninstall the Silicon image raid controler under SCSI and raid controlers in Device manager. Reboot. Then install the SATA drivers from the Abit CD, don't let windows install anything with its new hardware wizard.
The other thread about this is here-
