Dual Channel DDR

How does it work, do you need special ram? Bios option? I'm really confused, because my shuttle is DCDDR capable, but there is no BIOS option and no indication it is enabled in the post. I use kingston hyperx ddr333 (2x 512mb chips)

I was under the impression that it works as long ad u have 2 of the same chips in the proper memory banks. But now I have seen "Dual Channel Ram" for sale ...

Your system can access both memory chips at once doubling the bandwidth from the Northbridge and the RAM. All you need is a dual channel motherboard and 2 of the same sticks of RAM.

Where are these dual channel sticks of RAM at?

I think you can buy TwinX in 2 exact sticks paired together. Say you buy 512, it will be 2 matched sticks of 256.

I'm looking forward to seeing what others think of this, and if it really makes a difference.

Interesting, isn't it. We have progressed from having to install SIMM's in pairs, to single DIMM's, to now using DIMM's in pairs.

Save your Confederate money - everything will make a comeback someday.

I bought a 1GB Twin X pair (2 512MB sticks) back in February for $416, and its somewhere around half that price now.
